Deep conditioning locks (whether they are categorized as sisterlocks, dreadlocks, microlocks or interlocks) is usually not considered a good idea. The nature of locks usually require more cleansing than conditioning and heavy creme conditioners can often cause buildup. A great deep conditioning session can have the most amazing results on both natural and relaxed hair. Since winter has hit, my locks have started to look incredibly dry and unappealing. I recently tried my hand at deep conditioning.

Keeping in mind that products that are too heavy can cause build up that can be very difficult remove and could become trapped in the heart of your locks. When conditioning, one must keep in mind hair type and current hair health. My hair has been incredible dry from both indoor heat and bundling up to keep warm. I decided to create a pre-poo mix of  a light creme conditioner and a few other ingredients:

-Kiss My Face Whenever Conditioner  (I Love this product because it has the most quality ingredients for a fair price and size. Keep in mind the first three ingredient is the nuts and bolts of any product or food we buy)  Ingredients: Aloe Barbadensis*, Lavendula Angustifolia (Lavender) Flower Extract*, Hibiscus Sabdariffa (Hibiscus) Flower Extract*, Cymbopogon Schoenanthus (Lemongrass) Extract*, Equisetum Arvense (Horsetail) Extract*, Rosa Canina (Rose) Flower Extract*, Citrus Medica Limonum (Lemon) Fruit Extract*, Rubus Idaeus (Red Raspberry) Extract*, Thymus Vulgaris (Thyme) Leaf Extract*, Behentrimonium Methosulfate, Glycerin, Stearalkonium Chloride, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Oil*, Cetearyl Alcohol, Ceteareth-20, Lavendula Angustifolia (Lavender) Flower Oil, Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Extract, Helianthus Anuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil*, Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, Hydrolized Wheat Amino Acids, Tocopherol, Lecithin, Panthenol, Citrus Aurantifolia (Lime) Oil, Caprylic Acid, Glycine, Cyamopsis Tetragonolobus (Guar) Gum, Potassium Sorbate, Citric Acid. * Organic
-Organic Coconut Oil
-Honey
-Extra Virgin Oil

I applied my mix before shampooing with  Kiss My Face Frequent Use Shampoo. I sectioned my hair and sprayed with warm water before saturating with my homemade mix.

I worked from the base of my neck to the front and then covered with a cap for about an hour.

I rinsed completely with warm water and then shampooed Kiss My Face Frequent Use then followed with a light rinse of the  Kiss My Face Whenever Conditioner by itself and washed out completely. I ended by towel drying and using the Jane Carter Solution wrap and roll foam and twisted.

The twists gave me curls that I was not to fond of but the result for the past couple days have been amazing. My hair is shiny with more bounce and no longer looks dry. Everyone around me has noticed a big difference. I think deep conditioning is something I would do as needed or monthly at the most.

I am trying different and simple hairstyles for interviews and my return to the financial services field. I tried for the first time today to pull my sisterlocks back into a ponytail and it turned out well. It looked more conservative in person.. all I used was a hair tie and only one hair clip. I may accessorize with a scarf.  I don't want my fly hair to overwhelm my interviewers.
