I have not done a video in what seems like eons. Simply because I have yet to get a camera with a quality record feature. If I do return to making sisterlock videos, I want them to be of the highest quality for y'all. Frankly I don't even know if there is a true demand for me to do this. There are great girls out there already making videos to support our journies, is another one needed?  And lastly I do nothing to my hair outside of my cleanse and conditioning routines, I love my tresses free flowing and simply. But, I would attempt style and update videos with only the highest qulaity products if there was strong support from my site regulars to do so!

Here is one, a quick search yielded. I would not use that gel, simply because of my ingredient snob status but, I loved Jam in my "baby hair" days. :)

This is a personal favorite, totally my style:

This video just seemed like a sisterlock informercial, which was awesome!

I will freely admit that I sometimes stalk this blog, Shirley B is simply an awesome Blogger that offers such fresh and original fashion, hair and make-up content. When I saw these photos, I immediately remembered why I've been working out. I want to pull off every personal fashion fantasy.

We are beautiful and I am reminded everyday that God makes no mistakes!  What man can (or will) not appreciate, God loves and appreciates.  So we must love, appreciate each other, and be inspired by God's example.

Though I have a trouble spot or two, the overall look and health of my hair is still going strong.  I am over due for a re-tightening, but I feel a little time was necessary. I've been keeping my hair shinny and moisture rich by cleansing with Baking Soda and using a mix of apple cider vinegar, aloe vera juice and organic coconut oil as a leave in rinse. My hair looks beyond amazing after and I smell all tropical. I've done my fair share of posts, tweets and pins on the wonders of Coconut oil for whole body health.

Another blogger said it best:
Coconut Oil is an anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial, anti-fungal, anti-viral and improves nutrient absorption as well! It can be used for cooking, as a lip balm, moisturizer, shaving cream, Deep treatment conditioner, makeup remover, body scrub (mixed with sugar makes a great exfoliant),bug bites, athletes foot and canker sores. Its also been proven to boost metabolism and aid in digestion. For moms it has tons of helpful benefits as well. You can use it as a nipple cream, diaper salve, and for cradle cap (to name a few)! I mean the list goes on and on!

I Love Organic Unrefined Coconut Oil

After my mystery bald spot reveal, I've received some lovely encouraging words and some theories. After a Google search or two, I think  I've narrowed it down to a couple of forms of Alopecia. Alopecia is essentially a blanket word for hair loss with different forms stemming from different causes.

I believe my alopecia, which has come and gone with my sisterlocks have numerous culprits:

Hair Loss

Hormonal Change: I had my sisterlocks installed four months after giving birth and one of the post-pardum side effects is hair loss due to hormonal changes. My hair started to thicken back up but alas shortly there-after I became pregant again and did not help with the thinning.

Traction Alopecia: I have a tiny bald spot that I have had for years after getting a set of braids too tight, which compromised the hair follicles in that area.

Iron Deficiency: I have two genetic blood disorders that prevent the proper absorption of iron. Iron deficiency and malnutrition in general can cause hair loss.

I will be trying a number of things inclusive of supplements, herbal concoctions, diet and scalp massage. A common remedy for alopecia is steroid injection. I love my sisterlocks but I don't feel steroids is an option because it just seem so intense for hair. I love my hair but I believe in a balanced and natural lifestyle more.

My hair is for the most part wonderful, it is everything I have ever wanted but alas not even close to perfect. I'll try my best to figure out and remedy this bald spot, not for the aesthetic of hair but because my body is trying to tell me something and I am going to listen.

Is it Alopecia?: My hair and health
