At times I suffer from severe hair envy when I see a woman with uniform and smaller sisterlocks. I often wish my consultant would have walked me through what she did with my hair. I would have clearly stated my desire for more closely uniform locks. When I look at Kreyola's locks or any number of my friends who have more uniform sisterlocks, I get a bit envious and desire to change mine. Just start all over and re-install them the way I want!
Don't be jealous, yours look great!!! Everyone's Sisterlocks are different, and mine are super bumpy, LOL. Grow with the flow! :-)
ReplyDeleteSophia thinks really long and hard about that decision. Having my size sisterlocks is not cheap and the times it takes to retighten it going to be more than double then what you having now. I love my locks and I'm happy with what I got, but I have to inform you that having my size locks is not a breeze in the park. The commitment to a consultant for me may be forever, because of how long it would take for me to retighten my locks. I had an understand you want to maintain your hair; the amount and size of your locks right now can & will enable you to do that easily. In the end do what makes you happy, if you know you going to be unhappy a couple years from now, don't let your hair get longer and regret all those year you wasted. They are bloggers out there that did redo their locks and suggest you ask them question on why and would they do it again.
ReplyDeleteI believe you have had your sisterlocks longer than I have and I say "don't do it". I find my locks are not like 1 other person exactly and that is good with me. Having smaller locks is not always great at times I wonder if mine should have been larger in certain areas but as time goes and hair grows I love it just as it is imperfections where they may lie and all :) The decision in the end will be yours but I look for support and here is mine to you :)
ReplyDeleteStay strong! It may take a while longer for you to have your dream locks but have faith that yours are on its way.
ReplyDeleteMy locks haven't reached it's "prime"... and I get discouraged sometimes thinking about how much longer it could be before they do... but most of the great head of locks you see online have taken time and persistence.
Give it a couple more months... perhaps as your sisterlocks get a little bit longer, and you're able to do more styles, you'll feel much better about them. Good luck! :)
You know I feel your pain! I'm still battling with this myself. One minute I think I've made the decision to keep them. To go ahead and color, thinking that will give me the lift I need to fall back in love. The next I'm thinking of ways to transition and grow my hair out once I cut them off. This is rough and I regret that we both are having to deal with this.
ReplyDeleteYou have some very good feedback here and support here. Everyone has made some really great points. But in the end, you have to be happy with your crown when you look in the mirror. All my best to you with this tough decision.
Please think long and hard before making a decision. I personally think your locks are beautiful. I sometimes feel that way about my current locks and have felt that way about my previous set of locks but I have come to realize that MY LOCKS will only look like MY LOCKS. I just have to accept it. However you are entitled to doing what makes you happy. So do you.... Whatever you decide, you will have much support!

ReplyDeleteWow. It so true as a fellow trainee I can honestly say give it time. You have options ...to me if want em smaller just have your consultant split the area in which you think they are too large; this would be a transition and if I were in your position I would split those in the crown for the first year and the back the following year in order to maintain length bc while splitting your locks is an option you would have to camouflogue the process by styling which can be difficult for some. I;ve split a few so dont worry too much. If you've read Dr.Joanne's That Hair Thing she speaks about a time where she had to split her sister's sisterlocks in order for the look to be complete. BE INSPIRED AND DO WHAT YOU FEEL
