travel

October was a month of action, change and inspiration. I left an organization that moved me across the country to California and challenged me in countless way over the past three years. We bought a car. Settled a bit more into our little home. Celebrated an anniversary and traveled for that anniversary.

Some of that travel included South Florida for Blogalicious, a vibrant online community and annual conference that elevates women multicultural social media influencers, creatives and entrepreneurs. I went to my first Blogalicious 7 years ago and so much has changed for me in that time. My tribe has changed. My goals have shifted. My life expanded. Going this time I was able to glean a who new set of things to be inspired by and I engaged with people differently.

Conferences like Blogalicious are important, they give you perspective and inspiration. Its important to be able to appreciate their lane while staying in yours. I don't envy or want their story or version of success. But there is power in their stories and being in a room of women who are passionate and willing to support other women. I will definitely be more intentional about going to conferences where I can experience the magic that is genuine community.

I landed tickets to the Hunger Games Red Carpet Premiere in November of last year and while I was in California, I was serendipitously called for a job interview. Now I'm living in Southern California.

These pictures are epically late, but here are a few from that trip. Cameras were not allowed at the premiere, so no close ups of Jennifer Lawrence's gorgeous face or Liam Hemsworth's fabulous rear-end.

The husband and I wore all black!

Much fun was had!

Here are my favorite thoughts on the film.

The past two days I had been enjoying Hispanicize in Miami. Hispanicize is the premier conference for Latinos in media,  marketing and film. Thanks to Clever Girl Collective I was able to attend for free and it was a great experience! While there I had the chance to chillax in the Target Luxe Lounge! Target maybe my favorite brand of all time and they do all the right things when it comes to investing in media marketing and community!

I'm so excited! I am attending the World Natural Hair Show this weekend with a Florida natural hair group.  I've got the sisterlocks re-tightened and will be hitting the road with car full of natural hair lovelies including my BFF Brittany from locrocker.com . I am anticipating all the natural hair and beauty.

Heading to the World Natural Hair Show 2011

I've neglected my site because I have neglected my hair. Due to a trip to Miami, I missed a re-tightening appointment and now my loctician is booked for weeks. I need a back up in South FL! Please send recommendations, other wise I am going 3 whole months without a re-tightening!

I really want to attend the ATL sisterlock gathering... Anyone know if they are going for sure?

I'm in New York City for the Essence Women's Conference and it was amazing. There were so many women with such beautiful natural hair and natural talents. A few sisterlocked sistas caught my eye but alas I forgot my camera and had to snap a few candids with my camera phone. More to come later on this amazing experience. My locks held up well in rainy cold winter weather. Time to research winter care for locks!
